Smaller females who were looking for a mini longboard/mini-mal funboard that fit under their arm on the walk to the beach.

And, larger males looking for a small wave cruiser that would slot in the van for overnight stays

  • The Mini Trad Log takes all the design features of a classic nose-riding longboard — round nose, nose-riding concave, belly concave, traditional log rails, square tail — and packages them into mid-length dimensions, typically 7'0" to 8'0". The result is a board that surfs like a stylish traditional log but is light enough to carry under your arm, fits in smaller vehicles, and handles a wider range of conditions than a full-sized longboard.

  • On the Mini Trad Log, yes. The full round nose, nose-riding concave, and bellied-out bottom contours and sqaure cali tail work together to create the lift and lock needed to walk to the front — even in the smaller sizes. Most boards at this length don't have the shape features to allow proper nose riding, but the Mini Trad Log is specifically designed around it. Hanging five and cheater fives are very much on the menu.

  • Both are longboard-inspired shapes, but they have different goals. The Egg Log is longer, lighter, more user-friendly board aimed at surfers learning to longboard, trim, and walk the board for the first time. The Mini Trad Log is smaller and more committed traditional shape — closer to a classic nose rider in its design details — for surfers who specifically want that stylish, old-school feel and are ready to engage with cross-stepping and nose riding as a skill. It's a more characterful, niche board.

  • It's been ordered most often by two very different surfers: smaller or lighter surfers — particularly women — looking for a compact longboard-style board that's genuinely easy to carry and handle, and larger or heavier surfers looking for a small-wave cruiser with enough volume to keep them moving but compact enough to travel with. Both groups want the traditional longboard experience without the commitment of a full 9'+ log.

  • It's designed specifically for small and medium waves, and this is where it excels. The volume up front, flat sections, and traditional rail shape generate smooth glide in slower surf that most boards would struggle to make fun. If you're surfing knee-to-chest-high beach break and want to do it with style rather than just survive it, the Mini Trad Log is hard to beat.

  • Like a traditional log, the Mini Trad Log is designed for a large single fin. The single fin is central to the whole feel of this style of surfing — it creates a long, smooth arc through turns and rewards deliberate footwork over quick direction changes. The square tail combined with a single fin gives you the hold and pivot point needed to lock into the wave while walking forward.
